Fast and Furious Tricked Out Edition

Hello all,

I just purchased this movie today. When I played it on my Toshiba DVD player, the subtitles kept coming on. I kept switching it off, but it would always come back on. The only other DVD did this happened on was "Spy Games".

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Brian

That was the same model Toshiba i had and I had the same problem with Spy Games but when I got my new dvd player I didn't have the problem. I would almost bet this is a SD-1600 problem.

I'll bet that it's a Toshiba problem. I can't wait to get a new DVD player...Panasonic for sure, they never have any problems it seems.

It is strange. Those are the only two DVDs I had problems with, and they are both from Universal. I remember that Universal had a trade in program for Spy Games to fix it, but it is a strange (and annoying!) error. The DVD works fine in my PS2. I did e-mail Universal, and I'll keep you guys posted if I hear anything from them.

That's not totally true as my Panasonic DVD-XP30 couldn't play Any Given Sunday all the way through (it eventually paused and "hung" after a certain scene of pixelation) and I'm having the same dts audio sync problems with Die Another Day as several others are (including you... ).

So far, my Pioneer DV-656a has been the only player I currently own that has played absolutely everything I've run through it. There was ONE title that had SEVERE pixelation problems in a scene or two, but the player KEPT playing and I was able to finish the movie.

I haven't tried the "Tricked Out" edition of Fast and the Furious, but the first release played just fine in my DV-656a.

Peace...

I'm sure it is an issue with the player, but like I said, of all my collection, only two DVDs have had this issue (both Universal Pictures). I've actually had no problems at all with the Toshiba player, and I'm very happy with it (besides the subtitle issue).

Universal Pictures has contacted me and stated that I was the second person to complain about this problem, but they thought that the situation would not occur again (like it did for Spy Games). Seems to be a very isolated incident.
