Sony DVP-S330 - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

most of the time when i turn on my DVD player, it shuts off immediately. other times, it will begin to play a DVD, and then just shut off. it might decide to play for an hour before it shuts off, and other times it will play for like 30 seconds and then bail. there doesn't seem to be any pattern. anybody know what the problem is?
