Alien Quadrilogy: DTS Sound from Alien not playable?

When i choose to watch the first part of the Alien Quadrilogy Box in DTS, my receiver jumps from DTS to Pro Logic II and back, so that i could not hear the movie in DTS. DTS does work fine on Part IV, but not on Part I. Does anybody have the same problem as me?

actually, if you read the review over at hometheater forum, the reviewer had the same problem with DTS freezes.

apparently, the DD tracks are fine but at certain points of the movies, if it is on the DTS soundtrack, the movie will freeze.

hey scarface, what kind of dvd player do you have?
this might be only a problem on certain dvd players...

i hope this problem isnt a major one... that would suck to spend almost $100 on the set and have the soundtracks not working properly

I have the Pioneer 535 and had no problems with him before. The DTS Sound on Alien Ressurection works, but not on Alien. That sucks big time. I'll write an email to foxhome and see what they have to say.

I made a little movie in avi-format to let you see what the problem looks like:

I watched about the first twenty minutes with no problems on my Panasonic RP-56. If I encounter any I will post them...

I experienced this same thing on Queen greatest hits Vol II.
It would not lock on the DTS.
Then i hit the pause and play again ,voila it was ok.
I had to hit the pause and play each time i change a track
Very strange.
BTW my player is a Philips DVD 957

P.s
Got my copy of Alien Quad R1 yesterday, put Alien in my player and the DTS soundtrack worked fine.

I have the same problem with the alien quadrilogy. I can't play the DTS track on disc 1 of the quadrilogy. The DTS indicator flickers on and off several times a second. Yet I can play the DTS track from disc 7....

I don't think the problem is with the DVD player (particularly if you are using a digital connection to your amp).

I used the optical out on the DVD (Yamaha S5650) and processed it with a Yamaha RXV2400 amp and had the problem.

I then played the DTS track from disc 1 and 7 with WINDVD 5 on my PC using a Soundblaster Audigy decoder and it played fine.

Finally I used the SP/DIF passthrough from the Audigy back to my RXV2400 amp (on coax) and played it through WINDVD5 and had the same DTS problem. I could play disc 7 but not 1.

The one thing I haven't tried is using the DTS decoder on my Yamaha DVD player and passing the analog over to the amp.

It like this problem is related to the decoder which for most people would be on the amp.

What brand of decoder are people using that are having problems with this ?

I'm going to see if the DTS decoder on my DVD player has the same problem....

well I have a Denon 2200 and my Alien disc looked up in dts! I got a replacment comming in the mail! But I heard a guy saying on avsforum.com that even his second set had the same problem! So it could be a general problem with my Denon and ALien dts...!

Does this sound problem have anything to do with which version of Alien you watch? Does it happen with both the Director's Cut and !979 Theatrical Release? Or just one in particular?
