Pirates Of The Caribbean GLITCH!

What is it with the new DVD’s coming out! I bought another one that freezes up on me.
First it was Fargo SE that I purchased in September did the same thing.
It looks like it is starting a layer change then starts pixilation on Chapters 10 1:15 mark.
Mine was brand new never played and there was no dirt or scratches on it.
My DVD player is Panasonic DVD-RP91K.
Are they just trying to jam so much content on one disc?
Just give me the movie in Wide Screen and DTS sound and be over it!

Is any one else having this problem?

David

If it means anything, I own about 300 DVDs and have rented many and have never had a DVD freeze up on me. I own a 4 year old Sony player that has never been cleaned...
What up with that!?
If and when I rent "Pirates..." I'll see if it's the first "freezer" I experience.

I haven't tried my Pirates DVD yet but I have had three other DVDs freeze up in the manner that you speak of dcamp.

Twice it was a defective disc (Trapped, and Charlie's Angels). They froze in the same spots on my Pioneer Elite DV-C36, and my computer DVD player. They also froze on my brothers DVD player.

The third time (Vacation SE) it was dust on the disc. I took it out cleaned it off and it's played fine ever since.

I'm betting that you got a defective disc. I'd return it to the store you bought it from and get a replacement.

Same here. I just watched a Netflix rented copy and had 0 problems with the layer change and NO pixelation whatsoever. I used my Pioneer DV-656a as the DVD player.

Peace...

I've played the movie disc on two seperate DVD players, once in DD and once in DTS (I'll get their models later) and have had no problems. The normal slight pause at the layer change is there, which is understandable. It occurs right after Jack tells Barbosa "I know whose blood you need." But otherwise, mine plays perfectly.

You probably just got a bad disc. Return it to where you bought it and they should replace it for you, or give Walt Disney Home Entertainment Consumer Relations a call (1-800-723-4763) and they'll probably me more than happy to mail you a new disc.

I had no problems, and from what I've seen the disc is a pretty good one. The menus load and things come up faster than a lot of other releases I own and I am very pleased with it. I'd exchange your copy if its messed up.
