PowerDVD 5 error + E.T. prob (2 for price o' 1!)

Hi all,

I'm sure glad I found this place, at least I hope I am.

Two problems I've had on my config which is

Windows 2000 SP4
Toshiba SD-1612 DVD-ROM, flashed RPC-1 from firmware page
Power DVD 5.0 latest build whatever that was
DVD Region Killer 2.7 (tho problems occur without it, too)

1. At some random point in any DVD (can't reproduce it, but it happens nearly every viewing), the sound shuts off and it goes into a kind of auto-fast-forward. Stopping the film and restarting fixes the problem. This never happened with PowerDVD 4.

2. In E.T. only (single-disc version, i.e. 2002 re-release, R2), the 'puter beeps like crazy. That's about all I can say: a constant, once-every-two-seconds, abbreviated beep sound.

I'm not sure this is the best place to get tech help on DVD questions; Cyberlink's site setup blows, and most DVD places talk more about features and quality than they do about tech probs. If I'm in the wrong place, I'd sure appreciate it if you'd redirect me...
