Mallrats 10th Anniversary: Doc and Outtake Freezes

On my Sony DVP-NC665P, the "Erection of an Epic" doc and the outtakes both freeze and force a return to the menu at approximately the 3 minute mark. This seems to be player-specific (it plays through on my Dell desktop), and the disc looks pristine (this player handles all but the most extreme defects quite well). Anyone else have problems, particularly with Sony players? I'm headed off to BB now to exchange and see if the problem replicates with a new copy...

I'll check this when I get home, it hasn't even been in my player yet, but I will say that Universal has had a ton of authoring problems in the recent past, especially with their dual-sided discs.

Don't think it's your player. I've got a Pioneer-player, and it skips and freezes all over the place. Extremely annoying......

A quick check of the new copy (only on the affected features), from a different BB than where I bought the previous copy, shows no problems at all. Given that the last disc looked perfectly fine, I'd say that it was probably an anomaly, but it might not hurt to give any unplayed disc a quick spin to make sure it works (the freezing in my case occurred even when scanning through the features, so this is something that could be done quickly if need be). Hope everyone else fares well with this; if not, BB at least seemed pretty unsurprised at my bringing the disc in for an exchange.

Plays fine on my Panasonic XP30. But Mallrats is one of Universal's DVD-18 discs, and they've been notorious for bad pressings. So I wouldn't be surprised if the disc was defective.

Yea my Emergency season 1 boxset from Universal was bad It locked up early. It is a dvd 18 set where the shows are on the back and front.I swapped it and so far so good but I haven't finished watching them all yet. This isn't the only Universal title I've had trouble with.I've had 2 other bad discs from them.
