Fight Club stalls...then skips ahead.

On disc one, right when Edward Norton says the line "This is Bob" (in chapter 25 or 26 I believe), the disc will freeze for a good 5-10 minutes...then will skip ahead to the next chapter.

I checked the bottom of my BRAND NEW copy, and there is one tiny tiny hardly visible scratch (but I wouldn't imagine it effecting playback at all).

I was viewing on my computer, and every software prgoram I tried will do the same thing. I decided to try it out on my PS2, and there was no problem. I will try it on my living room machine tomorrow.

Is this something to exchange the disc for? What is causing it?

(I have the re-issued edition of the DVD, with the spine number)

Well like I said, it works just fine in my PS2, my other laptop, my main DVD player and an older DVD player in a spare bedroom.

So, I'm thinking this is an issue with my DVD-ROM drive...and unless you guys advice me other wise, I won't bother exchanging the set, because I don't really live near where I bought it...and I want to avoid the exchange if its possible.

My DVD-ROM drive has done this before, but varely rarely. My number one example would be the first season of The Simpsons, on one particular chapter of one particular episode, it would do the exact same thing.

I think my laser might be dying, and it may be having troubles with layer changing?

But still, this glitch is bugging the hell out of me because I'm super DVD anal...

Well if it ended up working fine on your living room machine, then that's 2 out of 3 in the green. Some titles have conflicts with PC software, so that could be the problem.
