Wobbly picture
I have a Sony DVD player (RDR-GX300) connected to a Sony Bravia TV(KDL 20S2020). When I play DVDs there is a very strange effect. Parts of the picture, especially faces, appear to wobble and shimmer. In the case of faces, it's almost as if the faces are made of two layers and the top layer is slightly detached and moving around slightly over the bottom layer. It's very unsettling. Any ideas as to what's causing this?

Ask yourself, why faces? What do they have that is not the same elsewhere?
Is it happening for only light skin faces, and not dark? Flesh tone color, esp light, is something that's hard to get right on the money, and is a real composite of all the primary colors. Try another DVD player and see what you get, and try your player on a different set as well. My suspicion is, if you're not going into the twilight zone yourself, that it might have to do with the tone of the faces.

It doesn't sound like copy protection, but are you running the DVD player straight to the TV? Or through another piece of equipment, like a VCR? If it's the latter, it might be the DVD copy protection that is kicking in.

Could also be maybe some sort of cross-interference getting into the cables or devices somehow.
You have to try the player and set with different ones of each, and see if you can narrow it down somehow.
