Lord of the Rings EEs (all films) DVD glitch
I haven't watched LOTR in a while, so I thought I would pop them in and revisit them. Since the last time viewing, I have had Craig Rounds come by and do his masterwork calibration on my Mitsubishi 65" CRT RPTV, and had a Lumagen VisionHDP added on and calibrated at the same time.
I am seeing two horizontal lines, the entire length of the screen from left to right, approx 1/4" inside the top and bottom black bars in the widescreen image. So in the image itself, not in the black parts, 1/4" below the top of the image, and 1/4" above the bottom of the image. I stuck in my Avia DVD, and went through a number of fields and patterns (widescreen as well), and am not able to reproduce these lines with any other media. Has anyone else seen this distortion/glitch before? I searched the forum, and was not able to find anyone else that mentioned it. Honestly, it's not that noticeable - it's probably because I am very detail oriented, and have spent tons of time and money getting my image and sound the best it can be. And really, it won't matter as soon as they finally get around to releasing the trilogy on whichever HD format they go with (I don't care which, since I have dedicated standalone HD-DVD and Blu-ray players). I wish they would give us a date, so we know they are at least getting these films transferred. The components that I would think would merit consideration for this problem: - Denon DVD-1600 modified with SDI (serial digital interface) output, which feeds directly into the Lumagen VisionHDP outboard video processor - Mitsubishi 65311 65" CRT RPTV, calibrated both before and after the Lumagen was added - PS Audio P1000 Power Plant / power regenerator - Richard Gray's Power Company RGPC 400Pro parallel power reservoir - PS Audio Statement power cables for every component |

Haven't watched my EEs in awhile either, but whenever a similar glitch appears on multiple discs, it usually isn't the discs. Most often, it tends to be the player.
Have you tried the discs on another player? If the same error occurs on at least two players, then that's when you can be sure the discs are faulty. If it's faulty only on one player, then it's likely the player is having problems reading the discs cleanly.
