It might not be. There may be new profiles later on that add more features. But 2.0 should be the bd profile that meets the most feature criteria...I suppose.

I bet the next firmware for the Ps3 will add voice recognition. No need for remotes.

New firmware for the Sony BDP-S1. It's up to 3.70 now. Someone wake up Pirate so he can finally update the list at the top of the thread.

2.17 for the PS3 is the latest.

Online connection for some games is more stable according to the source.

2.20 is being released for the PS3 before the end of March (so, in the next 10 days), adding BD-Live (Profile 2.0) compatibility to the PS3 (yay!).
In addition, there's a "mosquito noise reduction" setting for movies, and you now have the ability to resume play DVDs and BDs, even after you've ejected the disc.
Plenty of other non-BD specific bits and pieces as well (Divx and WMV playback has been updated, for instance).

This is good news! Now they can focus on getting DTS-HDMA decoding.

I do like the resume play feature. It has been annoying when you have to go through the whole start up process just to get back to where you were.

Only problem is for more recent BDs resume play won't work due to BD-Java according to the release notes (i.e. same problem HD DVD had with HDi & resume). I still don't understand why BD-Java discs haven't been programmed to resume play. It can all be done with automatic bookmarking...

Actually like the HD DVD players, this type of setting will not affect any BDs unfortunately.

I'd probably use the resume feature for tv shows on BD.

Also, don't know if its been mentioned but being able to stream video is a big + over the internet. A lot of folks complain about the browser itself so its good to see Sony is looking into it.

Now than, where is thee dts-HDMA>LPCM ?

Oh, gotta post this again.

Yep, glad to be wrong on that one. Now if they'd just redesign it with a real drive instead of a slot loader and add analog outs I might consider buying one.

You should be able to download the most current one to get all the updates.

Thanks.

Also, can I burn the update onto a disc and insert it into the PS3 or do I have to DL through the internet?

The way I used to do it was with a thumb drive. You would use the usb ports in the front to insert the thumb drive, and then do the update using that.

Nov 08 - Samsung BD UP5000 Firmware 1.4 is out via download/burnt CD only and fixes many menu, special features, and lock up issues. This just about makes my player worth having.
