At this point, that’s the only thing keeping me from feeling secure with the player. It does have some audio limitations and it is a bit slow, but Blu-ray looks and sounds stellar, and that's really all that matters. And with the Panny BD30 now out of the question, this player may be my last option before I break down and buy a George Foreman grill PS3.
This scares me. Picking a BD player is giving me a panic attack. Samsung released new firm ware for the 1400. All I want is Freakin losses audio over freaking analog people with no lfe trickery or movie freeze ups.

The LFE issues have to do with the receiver (at least mine does). Other than that, the Sharp does everything but DTS-HD/MA. As for the lockup issues, I've only had that for the Spider-Man films and I'm starting to wonder if it's an HDMI-DVI issue, which, if you don't have to use DVI like me, shouldn't present a problem. I've not tested a Samsung, though, so I can't compare any further.

I haven't had any lock up issues with mine. Although I have only watched three movies on it and a few extras. I'll be starting Lost: Season 3 soon, so that will be a good test.

I need to watch Spider-Man 3 with the LPCM to see if it lock up, but I really don't want to watch that again.

Can you simply just boost the lfe in the player setting by 10db or 5db on player and 5db on the receiver.

I tried, but I couldn't tell much difference. I still need to tweak the audio a bit, so I'll let you know if I'm able to make it work.

It seems the TrueHD Spider-Man issues were a fluke. I let each film play all the way through and the player didn't lock up once.

Regardless, I'm keeping the player.

Ah, yes.

Well, first I need a new AVR, then we worry about the boom boom.

Vooner have you had any better luck with your setup to get better audio from blu-ray tracks. We both have SVS Sub and I am Weeks away from B&w685 for my mains. My WIFE yes MY WIFE want a blu-ray player in the next 6 months and I don't want to upgrade my receiver for HDMI inputs but i want the better audio from lossless with out losing the dynamic range of DD or DTS.

I haven't attempted yet. I've been using the DD 5.1 tracks. Those are great for now. I'll see if I can get some time to play with the lossless settings and let you know.

I noticed that, too, but didn't want to call attention to it.

Well, I played with the settings a bit and I couldn't get it to a satisfactory setting for me. The problem may lie in the AVR as well. At last attempt I tried to calibrate the speakers using the analog outs. Even bumping up the sub to it's max (+6db) within the player and turning down the remaining speakers (-6db) it still fell short on the SPL meter. I can't not make further adjustments within the AVR for the direct inputs.

Using the DD track it still sounds great. I did notice that the lossless was a little less "muddled", but I did have to turn it up 5-7 db from my using setting on the AVR to match the volume of the DD track. If the lask of bass wasn't there it would be pretty sweet.

I probably do not have the latest firmware for the player though. I haven't updated it (no flash drive). I don't know if the new firmware does anything for the bass management, but maybe?

Yeah, there may have been firmware issues with the player on the LFE levels.

Here is an update on this issue. I have the latest firmware now and it hasn't done much to improve the LFE issue on the analog outs. However, I emailed Sharp on the issue and got this response today...

Once that comes out I'll give it a shot and see if it helps. I hope so, I'm looking forward to using the lossless audio on some of these discs.
