HD DVD Gen3 available for preorder!

HD-A35: http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-HD-A35.../dp/B000U6AHZW

HD-A3: 720p/1080i $299
HD-A30: 720p/1080i/1080p $399

No other specs yet. Based on the model #s, I am guessing none of these are an XA2 replacement.

What differentiates these players from the previous versions besides the number change?

Well, no specs yet but my guess is that these will use the Broadcom 7440/Microsoft Windows CE reference design - possibility for faster startup/disc load over last generation. Also, the A35 offers HDMI 1.3 at a lower price than last gen's XA2.

Can't wait for the spcs. If they do actually pass the native 1080p signal from the discs instead of cheating with a seperate deinterlacer after the fact, I'll finally replace my 1st gen player.

So will we see a drop in the HD-A20 and HD-XA2 and when?

I would imagine as soon as the new players are official announced, which I believe will be at CEDIA in Sept.
