Does Anyone Own A Vizio HDTV?

I've been looking at this TV for a while and I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on it.

http://www.vizio.com/products/detail.aspx?pid=18

This would just be used for gaming and some TV on DVD watching, so it doesn't need to be perfect. I doubt I could do much better—spec wise—for that price ($599 at Sears).

I don't have one, nor have I looked at one critically, but I believe that's the same set a coworker has. She has a 32" and 20" Vizio, IIRC. Loves them both. I've heard a lot of good things about the Vizio displays, as far as being low budget, yet offering a good picture. She's not only happy with the picture, but noted that the ATSC tuner picked up far more channels than the Sharp she had for a month. She also preferred the way it labeled those channels, as well as QAM channels; basically gave me the impression that the Vizio channel labels were more logical. Her comments also included that the remote was also better, with some univeral remote capabilities that the Sharp lacked.

From what little I've seen, they're a great deal for the price.

Thanks for the info. This looks like the way to go for a budget TV.

Again, my neighbor has this TV (ok, it may be the 42") but regardless, I have touted this as a cheap, and bang for the buck TV PH!

BUY IT!

I have been looking quite seriously at the Vizio 47" 1080p LCD for $1490 at Sams Club. Quite the deal! haven't seen too many bad things in the reviews. Mostly lighter blacks than most would prefer and not great sound. If you're using a separate sound system and can deal with not the blackest of blacks, then I think you've found your deal.

I first have to pay for drywall (tomorrow) and carpeting and then can get it and add it to my new family room.

How bad is the sound? This would be a TV for gaming mostly and would not be hooked up to a sound system.

My dad has the 42" 1080p Vizio HDTV. It's a pretty good peforming set but I think the de-interlacing isn't as good as some upconverting DVD players. This is based on ONE upconverting player he's got connected to it (a $80 Toshiba upconverting DVD player) so it's not a "solid" assessment on my part. What I did notice (during Gladiator) is when feeding the HDTV with a 1080i signal, I noticed some artifacting that wasn't when I fed the TV a 720p signal from the same player.

Plus, my dad complained about constant combing while watching TV shows he recorded on his Cox digital DVR.

Other than that, the picture is good. We did a video calibration using Avia and improved the video performance some. Even before that, he really enjoyed the video performance even though it sometimes lacked the "wow" factor he's always anticipating. What I can say is The Fifth Element (Superbit) looked DAMNED GOOD upconverted to 1080i by the DVD player and de-interlaced by the TV.

For the price, I think this will make a fine gaming display.

Peace...

Let me know how it works out for you...if you get it. I've been looking around for a 32" TV, and this one caught my eye also.

I've also heard that the viewing angle on these Vizios isn't very good. I'm going to CC today to demo the set. I'll report back after.

I checked out the TV at Circuit City. Of course, it was hard to tell about picture quality do to their lack of calibration and the horrendous HD feed the TV was receiving (artifact city!), but the colors looked pretty good and black levels looked decent. I also viewed the TV from several different angles and I didn’t notice any of the fading or graying that others have reported. I probably looked ridiculous bobbing my head up and about trying to find a poor viewing angle.

I think this will probably be my next TV.

If you do purchase one, I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on it as well. I've been tempted to buy a 42"+ for the living room, to "get by" until we can finish the basement.

Vizio reports that it has good viewing angles for 178 degrees or so. Did you find your bad angle?

Did you get this Vizio set PH? I'm thinking about recommending the VX42L to a friend.

No. I'm still trying to figure out what to spend my "spare" money on first.

The Z5 opens up a can of worms that I’m not quite ready to sift through. And since my Z2 is performing nicely, the Z5 is lower on the list.

Those Vizios are still getting rave reviews. For the money, they really seem like a bang for buck deal. In fact, it was the 42" that I seem to remember reading about that got really HIGH reviews. Hey..my neighbors is nice and could be nicer if he would let me fuck with it but we always end up drinking beer instead. Go figure.

My dad still really likes his, despite the colors being out-of-whack on his cable TV input.

Peace...

I have the Vizio VX42 1080p HDTV that I bought in Sept. and I love it. Very bright and sharp colors. I have family that have a Sony Bravia and a Samsung, and to tell you the truth; those are way over-rated and over-priced. I love watching HD football games on it. I dont have an HD-DVD or Blu-ray player, but I do have a Philips DVD upconverter/5.1 surround player, and watching Transformers, and Spiderman 3 on it was great! Though I'd like to eventually get HD-DVD, or Blu-ray; Im gonna wait till the war is over to decide.

Anyway I recommend Vizio!
