Canada, BD and Panasonic

Any other canucks around here wondering when Panasonic is going to step up to the plate with a player that isn't $1200?

Even their Canadian web site still lists the original one they launched 3 months ago. When are we going to see the next generation one that they launched in the US? Even Sony and Samsung have players for sale in the area of $550.

A friend of mine that's a panny dealer hasn't heard a thing.

It's time Panasonic!

Well according to my "dealer" they released them on a limited basis up here and there's none left. All he has left is a demo unit.

He's "expecting" the next generation before Christmas.

The Panasonic DMP-BD10A has been discontinued and will be replaced with the DMP-BD30. Pricing and details are hard to find, but speculation ( and a little insider info ) say it should be arround $500 street. I'm not sure when the new player is expected at retail, or if it will be profile 1.1 or not. We shall see...

I would be happy if Canada would step up and offer us the 8 free discs when we buy any HD player.

Was in the Sorny store today & they are offering 5 free BDs with the purchase of the BDP-300 unit. I think the same goes for the purchase of any Toshiba player.
