NO HDMI for BLU-RAY

I have a Hitachi 43FWX20B HD TV but it does not have a HDMI input only component video. Will a BLU-RAY disc player work on my TV? I find alot of the stuff confusing

Yes, most BD players have component support, but I don't think you'll be able to upconvert DVD. That will only be available over HDMI.

P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Piratehuner is correct. The 1080i video will be displayed on your TV, and audio will have to be transfered via optical ( unless you have an HDMI receiver )

DCSS prohibits upconversion over component video tho, so you would be limited to 480P.

I don't think ya can mix video (component) & audio (HDMI) that way.

Optical or Coaxial works just fine for audio & component for video. If you have no receiver, don't worry, your tv will give ya sound using standard red/white stereo cables.

Huh, never tried it, but I would be surprised if the player wouldnt send the video through component and audio HDMI. I know have done the reverse, sent audio through optical and vid through HDMI - and audio was still passed through HDMI at the same time.
