Looking to get a HD projector... recommendations?

My lamp is pushing 4000 hours on my Infocus 4805 and I was either going to get another lamp or look into getting a new projector. I was hoping to find a decent HD projector instead of dropping $300 on a new lamp.

I haven't done much research on them and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for something in the $1000 and under range. I'm looking for something along the quality of the Infocus 4805. Nothing too terribly fancy, but also nothing too basic. I'm looking more for bang for your buck type quality.

I would hope to get 1080p, but know they are very expensive. I'm looking to get it more for my Xbox 360 than HD-DVD's (I'm waiting until the format war is over to jump on that bandwagon).

BTW... If I don't find a new projector, anyone know where to get new lamps at a decent price?

I dont know about 1080p for around $1000, but I can speak for what i have seen for myself and the projector that I have, the Sony VPL HS60 is going for about a grand on ebay. HD DVD looks awesome in 1080i and in full bulb mode.

A quick search fount the Mitsubishi HD 1000 for about $900. I have seen this one in action, and have no problems recomending it. I think it is a little to early to find a good 1080P projector at the 1K price point.

Good luck!

I own the Mits HD1000u. It is excellent. I love the projector.

I did not think it was possible, but I actually enjoy watching movies more now on this projector then my old HDTV.

Highly recommend it!

I highly recommend the Sony AW15. B&H photovideo have it for $1079, 720p with a 12000:1 cr. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...idescreen.html

Best Buy carries it and will price match that(at least they did for me). It's also going on Ebay for well under a thousand. I've been very happy with it, even coming from a CRT. Screendoor is a bit pronounced, as it's a very sharp machine. I defocused just enough to where it's not noticable(same thing Panasonics smoothscreen technology does btw), and still get a sharper image than CRT ever provided.

I recomend this.

For 1K (now), this is one hell of a pj. More options like placement, great blacks, and white whites.

I strongly suggest this pj.
