What to expect when I connect HD player

I feel like an idiot asking this but, what type of Audio and Video connections will I come across when I finally unpack my new need HD or BD player.

My TV has an HDMI input as well.

This is a view of the back of my receiver.

Will I connect all the audio to the 6 channel direct input or does it all get done over HDMI.

I think I'd use HDMI into your receiver, and then out from your receiver to the TV. That way if you add a second HDMI source, you can just plug it in to input 2 and have the receiver do the A/V switching for you.

All the audio and video gets passed via the HDMI cable, so it's a lot cleaner as well.
