LG Dual-format player Spotted!

I walked into my local Best Buy and saw the new LG dual format player on display. Looks like a great player. If I get one in at Circuit City I will open it and hook it up to an Onkyo 805 and Samsung 5271 and let you all know how it is.

Apparently the LG is fully compliant with both HDi on HD DVD and also BD 1.1 for BD. Sounds like a good choice for a dual-format player, though it is a tad pricey.

Look forward to a review!

I am going to combine my 299 price point and say I would buy a dual format if it was 600 bucks. This player does seem mighty nice, but too much for me.

Nice to hear these players seem to be delivering . If they're good they would be a fine choice for anyone getting into HD and wanting both formats .

I'm waiting until Samsung releases their dual player before I get one, but I WILL get one this holiday season. We need one for the bedroom.

Yeah, the only issue right now is price. I think the list price on both of them is like $800-900. Tough to justify that when you can get the HD-A2/A3 for $99-$169; in a way, you'd be paying $700 extra for Blu-Ray capability.

Yeah, if you get the $99 hd-a2, and the $399 ps3, you would be dual format for almost half the price. Use the other money to buy that onkyo hdmi receiver and you'll be totally set for high def movie watching.

Of coarse . I've always maintained that these dual format players are just a matter of convenience and space saving .

Also at some point one is going to run out of HDMI inputs . While it is true that most receivers have a generous amount of HDMI inputs these days there are alot of devices that utilize them . Having a dual format player would help in that regard .

This sounds like an argument I made a month or so ago, just with slightly lower prices....
