Yeah my A2 has 1.3 firmware, and "can't find out server".
So what settings does it need to be on to get online and download?

you can burn the firmware to a cd for install can't you? I thought you could do that.

My first post ever in the hd section. I have a Samsung HLP 5063w dlp tv. Planned on sitting out the hi def wars until one winner was declared. This would probably be just as an upconverter (except for the 5 free dvds). Is it worth it for me to pick one of these up? Just called my WM and they still have plenty in stock. Also, will I need any special cables to connect? Any advice appreciated.

I would say yes, though HD DVDs look good enough to make me rarely watch DVDs anymore on my HLP-5085W. It's a good upscaler...but HD DVDs are worth grabbing.

If your TV or receiver has an hdmi connection, that's all you'll need. Otherwise it's going to be component and toslink.

I would BB. It's too cheap to pass up NOW. Component or DVI or HDMI will work depending on your TV's input. (I'm kinda buzzed but I think I got that last part correct).

Worth the investment even without HDMI. Enjoy some good HD quality movies. Where are you that your Walmart still has them in stock at 2pm PST?

Port Charlotte, Florida. I've got a meeting I've got to go to in a half hour so hopefully they'll still be there at around 9pm tonight. Thanks to all for the advice.

And I was just there. It was $300.

Just got home. Got one (floor model but it was just put out last yesterday & I got the box & all packing). I just printed out the coupon for the 5 free movies. Now I'll see how it works when I get my nephew to hook it up for me this weekend. I got hdmi cables too (figured why not get the best for $35 more). Total was $143.

Also Fry's Electronics seem to be dropping $98 HD-A3 (w/ 300 and Bourne Identity in the box) like bombs, so check them out if you live near one.

I've watched 3 movies on the A2 since the 2.5 update, and thus far, no skips or screw ups! For $100, a very good upgrade.

I'm also very pleased with the player. No glitches of any kind and a beautiful picture. Best $100 I've spent in quite a while.

I just got my A2 hooked up. I watched Transformers in HD DVD. It was farking amazing. Even standard DVDs look great. I've tried a lot of DVD players and this thing easily trumps some $500 players I've used. It's got great image quality and updating it was a piece of cake.

After seeing HD DVD in my own home on my TV, I'm sorry I waited so long. It's absolutely stunning.

HD-A3 + 8 free HD DVDs for $199 from BestBuy isn't exactly a shabby deal, and you can still get that now... or you could wait for Sears $169 Black Friday.

Walmart.com also has the HD-A2 back in stock, so I'm betting their next "Secret Sale" we'll see another $99 HD-A2 run.

I've seen that price referenced twice today, and I would go for it. But there website lists the price as $299.

Have you guys seen this: http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/11/02...-hd-a3-for-87/
