Is the 360 HDAO worth it anymore?

Given the price drops of the Toshi' HD-A2 to $99, is this the demise of the HDAO for MS?

It certainly sounds that way to me.

That is basically what Amir said earlier in the year. He stated that Toshiba standalones would drop to the price where buying the HDAO, or having hidef built into a console (wink), would become irrelevant and people could just buy the standalone.

IMO, the HD-A2 is a significantly better player than the HDAO, despite the HDAO being a solid performer.

I still like that I have it, especially since it is easier to travel with, but once I can get an HD-DVD player for cheap enough (maybe tomorrow) I will move my HDAO upstairs with my 360. I don't think anyone would pick it up right now over the HD-A2, or no one should.

I dunno... With free Heroes and Kong, +5, (plus availability) isn't it still a pretty good deal?

Heres where I have to dump on the 360, please forgive me. I only do this because my 360 recently bricked.

The standalone is a much better choice. If the 360 dies you having the HDAO is pretty pointless.

Is that still available though? My 'short term' memory fails me sometimes when 'long term' goals are in effect.

I like being able to still connect my HDAO to my pc via usb. I can watch movies on it or fiddle around with conversions, thanks to Slysoft. (with discs I own, obviously) That functionality will remain a factor for awhile, anyway.

thats true, but its really just Heroes since you can get the 5+ with a Toshiba purchase still. Thats still an HD TV show that sells for $100 at Bestbuy (ripoff), $80 at Frys, and around $45 on Ebay.

Well, the one advantage I see of the HDAO is that you can use it on your PC, too - just like I'm doing right now.
