Toshiba HD-A3 Issues.

I went down to the states around the time of the $100 A2 / $200 A3 listings, but the price bumped back up to $300 for the A3, so I figured I would buy one up here instead, which I did... for a whole $150CAD. Complete steal and I am now format neutral.

I hooked up on Monday and watched about 30 mins of The Bourne Identity and just threw it on again today... However, the remote was unresponsive to the player... eventually I decided to UNPLUG the player, plug it in again, and only then did the remote work...

Has ANYONE had any similar problems? Even with the A2?

I upgraded my A2 immediately upon purchasing it to v2.5 of the firmware. I have never had a single issue with the player.

I have never had any remote issues whatsoever with my HD D1, and I haven't heard of any remote issues with the G2 or G3 issues...

1) Update to the newest firmware

2) Remember to "Initialize" the player in the set-up menu afterwards

3) Enter Persistent Storage and delete any files that are listed.

4) If the player becomes unresponsive again, press and hold the Power button on the player for 15 seconds, this will force the player to shut down, much better than unplugging it while on.

It is essential you upgrade the HD-A3 firmware to v1.3. V1.0 and V1.1 had some disc read bugs with symptoms you describe.

This is how you do it:
