I finally did it!

After a long time of wanting, waiting and drooling I finally got my first HDTV tonight. After more research than I'd like to remember and price, input, reponse time and just a little contrast ratio(even though from what I hear thats not that important) consideration I ended up with this LG 42 inch LCD. http://us.lge.com/products/model/det...__42LC7D.jhtml

I had a friend come over an calibrate it for me and so far I'm happy. Call of Duty 4 looks so much more amazing than I thought it could. I'm not willing to jump into the fray of the HD dvd vs. Blu ray mess so I'll just get a decent upconvert dvd player and settle with that till the idiot studios and electronics manufactures can sort things out.

But I'm more than half way there now! The first step into a larger world indeed!

Make sure you keep a box of tissue beside the couch. Because you'll.... no wait a minute not for you ... know but to wipe the drewl from your mouth

The jump to HDTV is a moment that will bore the crap out of your friends for years.

It'll be like ... " Hey you guys remember when I picked up this bad boy... heh heh heh.

Enjoy it man. Hope you've an HD TV decoder box of some kind.

Not yet, since I blew my wa...... money on the tv I didn't have the $$ to goto comcast and get the digital cable box with the HD tuner in it.

Actually all my friends have HDTVs, I'm the last one of the group to have been without so they've been boring me. More like telling me agonizing stories of NFL, NHL, and Discovies Planet Earth in HD.

Now to an extent it doesn't have to hurt so much.

Congrats, umaine. Now if you could only get the Black Bears games in HD!

Why? So I can watch them stink up Hockey East. Any HD hockey would be great right now. I'll definitely have the HD reciever by Frozen Four time. Hopefully Maine can pull it together.

Congrats on the HDTV

Next purchase should be a HD cable/satt box.
That & a upconvert player. The Toshiba HD-A30 is nice & hear reasonably priced.

Well its a 2007 set. So until I can get one thats from 2 years ahead of us I think welcome to the present would be more precise.

I guess I have another newbie question.

This has all 3 tuners and I understand what turner does what. But how do I get the over the air HD signals??? Do I need a special antenna?
