Feeling ill about this

A week or two ago I stated my hatred for Sony in another thread. This hatred is long time running and is no where near over. Last night was my wife's work X-mas party. I won the door prize, a stinkin PS3. Go figure.

Since it was free I am going to keep it as it opens my options up a bit (a lot) when it comes to software, especially movies.

So is there anything I need to know about this thing? Any tricks, tips etc?

I have already downloaded the current updates to it and may rent a flick or two for tonight.

Any help is appreciated, barf bags are welcome too

If you feel that stronky against it, sell it and buy a HD DVD player.

I already have a Tosh HD-A3, and have no intention of selling the PS3. As much as I hate Sony, I love movies, and this gives me a ton more viewing options.
So any tips?

Anyone?

Well your convictions aren't that strong against Sony apparently. If you hated Sony so much sell the player. By owning one and purchasing Blu Ray movies your supporting the enemy. Myself in particular could care less. MS and Sony both have their faults.

God damn, I never ever said I like MS. I could give 2 shits about MS, I just dont like Sony . It all stems back to the PS1, in reality I could honestly not care less either way. My hatred is more of a damn it I wish this company would go tits up kind of thing. I love movies though and BRD has a lot of movies that I like. I would not have bought a player (even though I would be pissed at what I was missing), but I am also not stupid enough to give up on a free one. I am now NEUTRAL, so again I ask:

Is there any tips on this player?

How could you hate the PS1? That was like... the best system ever.

Anyway... ummm... tips? Buy the BD remote for $20... much easier than using the controller. Make sure you mess with your picture settings, the PS3 has more options than most hardware. Make sure all your supported resolutions are checked, not just the highest ones... the PS3 is not the best at scaling and you will want everything to display native.

If you like music and shooting download Everyday Shooter immediately...

That's about it for now I think.

Don't forget to send in for your free 5 movies. I definitely see this as a great prize to win. In addition to what Moogle said, if you have the necessary audio equipment, you can also check all the audio codecs that are available.

Make sure you video tape all your usage of it so when the dust kills it Sony doesn't try and say it was from an act of god.

How do I sign up for this 5 free movie deal? Is it valid in Canada?

Bought the remote today, using the controller was a pain. I am very impressed with this thing so far. Does far more than I thought it did. I never realized how multi-use it was. Very cool. Damn you Sony for giving me doubts about my vendetta.
