Sony BD-S300 -OR- Samsung BD-P1400
Which is the better player? I'm on a budget and both are now within my price range at $299. The TrueHD audio isn't important to me at this time since I'll be connecting the player to my receiver through an optical cable. What I want is stability, excellent video for HD and upconversion for DVD.
What do you recommend? (And please no PS3. That's a game console and I want a set top player.) |

I have the BD-P1400 and have no problems with. both the 1400 and S300 are entry level players so they probably dont have all the bells and whistles as other players. I have so far upgraded my firmware twice on the 1400. I check every week or so because you never know and I don't think you can automatically have it update which would be a nice feature.

The Sony has no eathernet jack. I don't know about the samsung. If you are not interested in what is arguably the best Blu Ray player, it would be in your best interest to wait for a at least a profile 1.1 player.
