Back on Topic,

If you have the means, and opportunity, I say go for it. If you can, pick up a back up as well. My back up HDA35 backup is on it's way, and if they are still around next month, I will pick up a few HDA30 back up players. I just got my HD AO working on my computer, so there is another option for me.

I think I'm going to pick up the A35 this week. I just can't spend the money on the XA2, and, as far as I know, the A35 is the second best player (spec wise) out there.

chlngr1970, have you had any issues with your A35 (failures, dropouts, bricking, etc.)?

I don't know why I'm so nervous about buying this damn thing.

Maybe because in such a small sample size, both Ruined and I have had problems with it. I am hoping my replacement will be okay.

I think Zeph or Ruined mentioned this, but how fast does the A35 load SD-DVDs?

Being nervous is one thing, worrying about load times at this stage in the game is silly. It is what it is and nothing going forward will change that. Understand?

To me it's buy or not. Simple. Can't complain about crap that is not being produced anymore. Take it or leave it is how I see it. . . . I see things weird.

That wouldn’t keep me from buying the player, but it might deter me from using it as my primary SD-DVD player.

It does take a while. I found that it is easier to just do the rest of your setup stuff while it's loading. For example you could load the disc, and then spend the rest of your time turning on your projector and sound system, and getting comfy on your couch, etc. By the time all that is done, you should be getting something.

Well I finally had some luck. Called Toshiba, spelled out the problem, and told em I got it for Xmas, thus no receipt , so they let me send it in for servicing. Got it back yesterday, well I should say I an XA2 back... they gave me a new one, in the box with everything! Not bad considering I bought the 1st one used .

Watched an SD DVD, and an HD DVD yesterday, zero issues thus far! It's on the 2.2 firmware... needless to say 2.8 scares the shit out of me. What lowest firmware could I go to get 1080p24 with DTS-MA decoding?
