I got the A30 in the mail today and I have a few questions. First of all, the SD upconversion does not even compare to the PS3. Colors are extremely bright and unnatural and it seems even pixilated. Also, it looks kind of jumpy too. I tried it on 1080i as well as 1080p and I didn't notice any difference.
I put in Hd 300 that came with it and it was extremely grainy, distractingly so. Does anyone have 300? Does yours look like this?
So are there any settings I have missed? Can I turn off the "looks like shit" setting?
Thanks!

I actually haven't tried anything but Transformers on my HD A30 yet cause I have been working late the last few days. I will say tho, that Transformers looked great! I didn't leave my HD D1 installed so I can't realy make a good assessment of weather or not it looks beter, but, I bet my mind thinks so

300 is an odd bird. I am willing to bet that grain you are refering to is intentional. I believe it was a stylization choice by the director,

Indeed.

That "looks like shit" setting is unfortunately there to stay with 300

Chuck -

If you need help, you really should describe how it's hooked up and what other equipment you have it connected to.

Indeed, I thought 300 looked utterly flat and grainy on my 720p projector, but on the JVC RS1, the level of detail and 3D depth visible through the grain is simply boner inducing. And the colors, oh my the colors!

Is there a way to turn down color intensity down on the player itself?

My PS3 looks great, tones are close to what they would look like in a theater setting. I have two copies of SD Monsters Inc and when I switched back and forth, the A30 made everything eye exploding bright and intense, while the PS3was a little toned down. I thought most of the color saturation/hue, etc. stuff was set on the TV. Why is the player making everything look so unnatural?
