HD war isnt over yet....Meet HD-VMD!

I was surfing the net, and on some electronics sites, and found a new format coming to the states called HD-VMD. This uses Red rays instead of Blue like HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Though there aren't many movies made on this format yet; there maybe hope that this means that Blu-Ray can't claim victory on HD formats just yet.

Heres pics of the players:

This came to light around summertime IIRC. I dunno if it will ever fly or not.

Yeah, I know we have a thread about it somewhere here. But with no studio support it'll die a quick death. Might catch on with the bootleggers, but it will never be a viable mainstream product.

Okay, let me rephrase. They have no US studio support. Those are all imports of titles distribuited by other companies overseas. I don't see US retailers stocking import discs. With no major US studio onboard (no, Icon is not a major studio) to promote the format, it will never take off.

Jast3r Rogu3,

There is no one here who needs convincing that Blu-ray is currently the dominate format. Many of us may feel uneasy with that fact, but as far as I know, no one is still betting on HD DVD. So, your rhetoric is unnecessary and inappropriate. Cool it.

This might be like how VCD was in Asia and never gained any traction in the US.
