ps3 audio question

My receiver is not an hdmi one, and I cant replace it for at least a year, so if I get a ps3, will I have 5.1 at least through the optical connection?

Yes, you will get standard 640kbps DD or 768kbps-1.5mbps DTS 5.1. Though if you wait 1-2 months and get the Panasonic BD50 (~$499 msrp), you will get overall performance that is similar to the PS3 (just a tad slower loading) and full decoding of all lossless sound codecs via analog 5.1 - along with full BD2.0 profile support, too.
