Monoprice HDMI Switcher Problems

I’m a bit tired, so I apologize if any of this is unclear.

I got a Monoprice HDMI (3x1) Switcher, so I could hook my HD DVD and Blu-ray players up. I didn’t notice when I ordered it, but the Switcher is HDMI v1.2. My HD DVD player works with the switcher, but my Sharp BD player does not.

My Sharp is v1.3 and my Toshiba A1 is v1.1. Could this be the problem? Will a v1.3 player not work with a v1.2 switcher? I'm using v1.3 cables to each player from the switcher and a DVI-HDMI cable to the projector (not sure what version).

When you say "doesn't work," do you mean you get an error message or handshaking problems, or is the screen just totally blank?

I know my ps3 had no problems with my switcher when I hooked it up, and it was a 1.3 hdmi connection. Then again, I didn't have the 3 to 1 switcher, but just a cheap 2 to 1. And there is no problem when it is connected directly, so I guess it would be the switcher that is incompatible.

I seem to recall there were problems with various monoprice hdmi switcher revisions. I think only switch boxes that were revision 2.3 and higher worked properly with most blu-ray players. It doesn't have anything to do with HDMI versions though. Also I seem to recall it does make a difference which ports you plug stuff into. So you might try changing the connections around a bit. I don't remember the reason exactly but there was a discussion about it on avsforum. Anyway, looking at their website the 3x1 switchbox is only revision 2.1, so you'll probably want to return it. Since the 4x1 switchboxes are only $4 more, and they are revision 3.0, no reason not to get one instead.
