PCM 5.1 channel uncompressed audio

Can Pcm 5.1 channel audio be processed and sent through my discrete audio outputs on my blu-ray player instead of using the HDMI?

If you are asking whether it can be passed via analong outputs, then yes. If you are saying it is toslink, then only 2.0 PCM can be output.

Yeah, you should get most if not all the high def codecs. I am not sure about DTS-HDMA.

If the player has a dts HDMA decoder, it will be decoded and sent out the analog outs. I don't know of any players that have HDMA decoders tho...

The PS3 has a HDMA decoder. But since it has no analog outs, that doesn't help much.

Does it decode, or just bitstream? And, yeah...since no analog outs, you would need an HDMI AVR or Pre/Pro that can take 7.1 PCM in. I say 7.1 just in case they ever do a 7.1 HDMA track.

All New Line films are 7.1 DTS-HDMA tracks Anyways the PS3 decodes the audio (TrueHD and HDMA) and sends it to the capable receiver in its PCM form and not in a Bitstream format with a HDMI connection

The new Panasonic and Sony's will have built in decoders, but I don't know if those decoders are bitstream only.

But to me, built in decoders means it outputs the "decoded" bitstream in PCM. Otherwise, why have the decoders built in. Bitstreaming means that the native encoded bitstream is passed to the processor ( be it AVR, or Pre/Pro ) for decoding.

Hmm...that seems correct. In that case, those newer bd players will be able to output with PCM, and thus make the need for a new AVR unnecessary.

Niiiiice. This means that I'll be able to connect the 5 channel audio from my BD30 into my HK and enjoy the new HD audio formats.

I'm all over this.

Nope, the BD30 doesn't have TrueHD or DTS-HDMA decoders.
