I'm glad we were able to get the problem resolved and you can enjoy your movies now.

Sounds like your TV supports 1080p24 input, but it has a glitch with it.

There is sometime a 1080p24 glitch where a player or TV will expect/output 24.000hz (incorrect) instead of 23.976hz (correct). That can cause the kind of artifacting you saw. I bet the TV is trying to sync with the ps3 at exactly 24.000hz, because if that is the case it could cause the artifact you noticed.

It definitely looked like something was trying to catch up with something else. Of course now I can't find the specs for the TV so whether its 24 hz or not may never be known. Even if it would would it still have the same problem because it is a 720p display. Wouldn't some kind of issue occur since I was also trying to feed it a 1080p signal.

Like I said before when I had the 360 at 1080i 720p looked better. I could care less about 1080p anyway I sit far away so 1080 won't make a difference.

Standard 1080p syncs at 60hz regardless so it wouldn't be an issue. Though your display is only 720p, it could still be capable of accepting 1080p24 and that is where the glitch seems to lie.

360 games are 99% 720p anyway, so it would make sense that 720p native is better than 720p upscaled to 1080i and deinterlaced & downscaled back down to 720p.
