HDMI cable
I need to order a HDMI cable via monoprice. It will hooked up to a PS3 and a Sony 52XBR4. I have no idea what I am looking for on the site.

I would recommend longer length than 3 ft. 6 is barely enough to route from a stand to a tv in a lot of cases. Otherwise what taxi posted is good. 1.3a is the compliance you are looking for.

I recently bought their 10 foot CL2 (in wall rated) 24AWG cable and am happy with it. The only thing is, it is a bit stiff, but that's mainly due to it being 24AWG.
For only $12.07 each when QTY 50+ purchased - High Speed HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Certified CL2 Rated (In-Wall Installation) Cable (24AWG) w/ Net Jacket - 10ft (Gold Plated Connectors) | Premium 24AWG HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Male to Male I love bluejeanscable.com, but for a short interconnect, especially 10ft or less, I think monoprice.com is fine. Even the 28AWG is sufficient, but I "splurged" for the 24AWG. My set is wall mounted and I didn't want to have to worry about pulling another cable through, no matter how small that probability. I was buying a wall mount and various other cables anyway, so I simply ordered it all from monoprice in the interest of keeping it on one order and one shipment. But, BJC is awesome. I highly recommend any of their cables, particularly their Belden speaker cable.

HDMI Cable length
I currently own the Pioneer Elite 60" HDTV (151) and their Blu-ray (51FD) player. Two very good products. I'm saving to buy their SC-07 AV receiver, and in the process my preparation includes buying HDMI cable. I've already bought one 25' Blue Jeans Series-1 cable (and, has been noted, it is quite stiff). Obviously, I have a long (23') run from my TV, etc. to my receiver, and then 23' back from my receiver to the HDTV, etc.. Consequently, I have two questions: 1.) can I buy a combination of cables, for example one 20' Series-1 cable (24AWG) and couple it with one or two feet BJC Series-2 (28AWG) cables (in order to make it "easier" to hook up to the receiver, and my equipment, and actually shorten by a couple of feet the lengthy run) without degrading the signal? And 2.) since the SC-07 receiver simply passes the high definition signal through (and does not, apparently, upscale anything), am I--in effect--creating a 50' run instead of two 25' runs? I was also wondering (I guess this is a 3rd question) whether or not I could purchase an HDMI switch (like Blue Jeans or Oppo sell), and run three short cables from my HDTV and two HD DVD players to the switch, and then run a 20' Blue Jeans cable to my receiver? Thanks,
|
