What makes the Blu Ray hardware and software format so unique to you ?

Apart from and/or in addition to the obvious (better picture quality),
what makes both the Blu Ray hardware and software format so unique and
superior to you. If there's any web links you admire (where this is very
well discussed without going into only technical reasons only), please
include any.

Apart from video & audio..

Its disc uses a protective coating that resists scratches. (Unlike DVD)

The format spec is not set in stone (Like DVD) meaning there is always the chance of added benefits & improvements to the current library.

-BD Live
-PIP Commentary
-Bookmarks

Increased storage capacity to enable more extra features than its DVD counterparts.

...................

Personally my fav (& most taken for granted) is the protective coating applied to each disc.
