Thanks Dugpa. I placed my order earlier today for 4 titles and got the 4th free. Only one of the titles I bought is on that list. Here's what I ordered:

G.I. Jane

Hellboy

Does anyone know how long this will be going on for?

Here is the HD DVD list:
You're right. I guess I didn't have the right titles. I chose Darkman, Mystery Men, and Wolf Creek, and it didn't work. So I thought it was blu-ray only.

Bought:

Pitch Black
Fast and the Furious
T3

That's because one of the four titles you're picking is not a part of the sale.

I think it may be a fluke, but if you order the toshiba player with the 3 free movie deal it combines the 2 deals. So you can buy the player get the discount for the full price of the 3 movies and then have it take off the price for the cheapest movie again. My order total came out to be $218.93 for the Toshiba A2, the 40yr Old Virgin, Batman Begins, and The Departed ($306.73 total - $67.85 discount - $19.95 discount. The wife may end up killing me, but that deal was too much to pass up.

It's no fluke, it's the real deal. It also works on the PS3 (hint, hint, PH! ! I sold my 20gb awhile back and have just been waiting for a deal to buy the 60gb and this is it!

I just put my order through for a 60gb PS3 and chose Pirates 1 and 2 and Night at the Museum as my 3 titles. Altogether it came to $468 shipped!

I also placed an order for HD-DVD's, with the total coming out around $49 shipped:

Shaun of the Dead

Dawn of the Dead - 2004

40 yr. Old Virgin

Meet the Parents

I plan on making one more 3 for 2 BD purchase later this week after I get paid and that should be it for awhile.

Damn it! It looks like the 3 for 2 is over. I just went to put in my last order and there's no deduction for the freebee's. I went through my order last night to find out how much it was and it was $80+. Now it's $118 for the same order.

I think Amazon made a killing on this sale...from both sides. I'm glad I took advantage when I could. Got 9 bd titles, and 6 hd-dvd titles. Average price was about $14.

I don't think it is. There was a link to the sale on the PS3 page and it's no longer there, so I'm guessing it's done.

First three episodes of Planet Earth (the US version) for only $11.95 + $3.25 S&H. It's available in both formats.

If you're just looking for cheap demo material it's probably not a bad deal over spending the money for the whole set. I'm not big on demo material for the sake of demo material though so I'll probably pass.

Fry's has a pretty good sale on for the weekend.

Blu-ray discs, buy one get one free from these titles. Discs are $19.99 but in the store they just had them listed as $9.99 each, so you could probably buy just one if you wanted.
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Fifth Element
The Replacement Killers
A Few Good Men
Memoirs of a Geisha
Underworld
FF Spirits Within
House of Flying Daggers
Hitch
Immortal Beloved
Kung Fu Hustle
RE: Apocalypse
Tears of the Sun
Layer Cake
Curse of the Golden Flower
Donnie Brasco
Black Hawk Down
Hellboy
Wild Things
The Patriot

HD-DVD's 2 for $27. Again, in store they just has them listed at $13.50 each.
Top Gun
Hustle & Flow
The Italian Job
The Untouchables
Mission Impossible
The Warriors
MI:2
The Mancharian Candidate
Black Rain
Sky Captian and the World of Tomorrow
Sahara
Sleepy Hollow
U2: Rattle & Hum
We Were Soldiers
Four Brothers
Failure To Launch

It's sales like this that makes me wish that I had a Fry's in my area. For $9.99, I'd bite on Bram Stoker's Dracula. I would also pick up Top Gun. I could order them online but their shipping charges are insane.

I don't get these prices from Fry's which to my Amazon buying ass is pissing me off. Why are these prices so much lower than Amazon? I thought Amazon was the place to shop, and if not, I gotta read this thread more often.

Amazon is the place to shop except when Fry's has a really good sale. Though Amazon has had some good sales too (the buy two get one free for both HD-DVD and Blu-ray from a couple months ago comes to mind). So yeah, Amazon is usually the cheapest ticket in town (well, out of town really). But Fry's has a blu-ray sale every couple of months or so for a weekend. It's always Sony titles only that are on sale, which tells me it's probably a deal Sony cuts with them.

Man, that is a great deal, if only they actually had the titles I want in stock. Underworld is the only must buy for me and it would still come out to $16 if I ordered it online from Fry's with no certain ship date. I would rather just order it from Amazon for $18 and get it in 2 days. If I ordered a lot of titles it would be a better deal. It was about $80 for 4 BD's and 2 HD's. That comes out to about $13 each. A damn good deal, but again, I have no idea when they would ship. I just don't think I need to buy those titles right now when there are so many big ticket titles I already have on pre-order from Amazon for the next 3 months.

Out of curiosity how do you place more than 1 order & get the discount?

I mean once you add a title to your cart, you are taken away from that "sale" page. I added 4 Disney titles, went to the checkout & all were priced individually.

You have to check the boxes next to the discs and then click add to cart at the bottom of the page. I did this with four titles (2 on each page) and sure enough the price of the two lowest ones were subtracted from my final total. And I still got my 10% off the pre-discounted total to boot!

Thanks for the heads up on this guys. Best Buy is doing this as well. In fact, I picked up a couple yesterday from them, but now I'm going to return them after reading about this. For only $6 more, I can get 2 more titles through amazon. I just placed an order for these:

The Prestige
Gone in 60 Seconds
Enemy of the State
Flightplan

Once you get to the billing page it will show the discount in the order at the top right of the page. So if you buy 4 the discount will represent that 2 free movies in promo i believe. I haven't placed an order yet but 10% off was still showing ontop of the 2 free movies

Re: Circuit City:

From what I've been gathering, its HD-DVD $29.99 and under. The cashier might see 'blu-ray' notice pop up but if they OK through it (some say option 2) the discount will be applied at the end of sale. There have been scattered reports of the staff giving people a hard time about it, up to and including some outright refusing to do it, but success seems to be determined by who you get running the register.
