I was just about to post this. I ordered 300, Full Metal Jacket(deluxe edition), The Shining and Goodfellas. Less than $40 and free shipping. Can't beat that.

Can't help you out Dugpa, I'm tapped out. Is there really anything on there that you don't have? Eyeballing Devil Wears Prada or Entrapment?

I already have Devil Wears Prada and happen to get a kick out of that film thank you very much. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Edward Scissorhands were the two I'd get from the sale if I had any cash.

I got the first four Hairy Twatter films.

A little off this topic, but how long has it taken people in the past to get there 5 free movies from buying a BRD player?

I bought mine aorund Nov. 2, so 8 weeks now, and have heard nothing.
My receipt doesnt even let me look it up on Best Buys rebate center.

I bought my PS3 in September and just got my movies TODAY. Those fuckers take quite a long time. Be patient. They'll probably get to you by March or so.

I went to Toys R Us and used two Disney coupons with their BOGO sale with absolutely no problem at all. I picked up Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Cars. With tax and all it came to $17.30! Cheaper than dvd.

Amazon.co.uk Blu-ray 3 for 2 sale

Be mindful about the Blu-ray sale:

- Breaking and Entering (REGION B Locked)
- The Rock, Crimson Tide, and Con Air are coming in the U.S. soon.
- Face/Off is edited.
- Thirteen Ghosts (w/ PCM track) and The Island, and Starship Troopers aren't released in the U.S.
- Hostel has a PCM track.
- Cinderella Man, Hollywoodland, and Bruce Almighty are HD DVD exclusive in the U.S.
- Gothika has a PCM track.

Be mindful about the HD DVD sale:

* Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same - delayed/postponed in the U.S.
* The Island - Not released in the U.S.
* Serenity - includes an extra featurette, slightly better video encode?
* Blade Runner - The Final Cut - Single disc Final Cut not released in the U.S.
* The Prestige - Not released in the U.S. on HD DVD.

Non-combo versions:

* Superman Returns (may lack TrueHD though)
* The Hitcher (2007)
* Jet Li's Fearless
* Happy Feet (may lack TrueHD though)
* 300 (may lack TrueHD though)
* TMNT (may lack TrueHD though)
* The Reaping (may lack TrueHD though)
* Rumor Has It

Amazon's got a new Blu-Ray sale. Up to 53% on select titles. They've currenly got 9 pages, but I hear it started at 10 so it looks like they're removing titles every so often.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...=bluraynews-20

I just bought my first few Blu-Ray titles... Total Recall, A Few Good Men and The Lives of Others. I don't even have a Blu-Ray player yet, but it was a good deal.

Yeah, it looks like I'm going to spend another buttload of money getting some cheaper discs. I looked through the hd-dvd side, and maybe I will pick up Happy Gilmore. The rest I either own or am not interested in.

So where abouts do you send your winnings (if you do win) Since it's only open to US residents ?

I'm sure it accepted it, but if they drew your name it'd be thrown out since you're not in the US.
Did you guys bother to read the fine print? They value this price at $3,000. That means if you win, you owe the IRS taxes on $3,000. No thanks, I don't have a spare $1k lying around to spend on hd discs and players, no matter how good a value is it.

Yeah that part kind of sucks. Largely because you can't pick your own movies or player, that's up to Amazon. With my luck most of the movies would be ones I already have, and I'd be stuck with a tax bill.

Oh well, still signed up anyway.

1. Eligibility. The Amazon.com 2008 Blu-ray Giveaway Sweepstakes (the "Sweepstakes") is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, except residents of New York, who have reached the age of the majority in their state of residence at time of entry.

Oh well i did fill in my forms just for the hell of it anyways.

It's not in the fine print. It's #1 in the official rules.

And if it's the HD DVD one you win you might end up paying more in taxes than the stuff is actually worth.

I haven't entered this contest yet. Seeing how as I'm in Canada it probably wouldn't do me much good, but here's an offer for someone:

If any of you will let me use your address and I win, I'll split the 100 movies 50/50 with you.

PM me if interested. Oh, and I'll be entering both contests. If you're only interested in one, let me know in the PM.

I'll bite but wonder how in the world are two people going to peacefully 'split' 100 movies?

I'm peaceful and I assume you are too, but wow...that sounds like a HUGE potential problem for you since once shipped....you are....you get my point.

Just using someone's address in the US wouldn't work. Because of the value of the prize, they would ask for your social security number for tax reasons. Since you don't have one not being a US citizen, they'd find you out.
You would have to have the person in the US enter the contest in their name. If they do that, why should they split the winnings with you since they're the one who entered and won? Not to mention they're the one stuck with the tax liability.

Gotcha. I didn't know it worked that way. Oh well.

On another note, Amazon's got another Blu-Ray and HD DVD sale on. Up to 53% off selected drama titles:

Blu-Ray

HD DVD

Great price. I paid $57.99 earlier thinking that was a fairly good deal, compared to the prices in b&m's anyway($79.99).

I was really jealous of that. I hear you. Can't pass that up.

Oh and I just got off the phone with Amazon and they credited the difference back to my credit card.

Thanks Moonraker!

Me, too. I bought this on Jan. 9th for $57.99. I just called Amazon customer service and asked if I could get a refund for the difference of that and today's gold box price of $39.99. Boom! $18.00 refund with no hassle at all.

Sweet!
