Signs (Blu-ray)
HD Video: 9/10 HD LPCM: 10/10 This is one movie where I replaced the dvd with the Blu-ray version. What I saw was incredibly improved detail. Bracke mentioned that he thought the movie was too dark, but I almost thought the movie was brighter than on the dvd. It might by my hdtv settings. It looked great though. The audio was fantastic. Turn this puppy up, because James Newton Howard has an incredible score in this film. From the opening credits with those eerie violins playing and the awesome bass in the opening song, this soundtrack really does rock.  All in all, a vast improvement over the dvd.

Video: 8.5/10 Audio: 8/10 Signs (Blu Ray) Video: 9.5/10 Audio: 10/10 The new transfer is no darker than previous releases, and is likely brighter. I can make out some shadow detail that I had not seen before actually. The sound kicked major arse.

Dirty Harry (Blu Ray)
Video: 9/10 Audio: 8/10 There is no getting around the limitations of the original print, however this is by far the best this movie has ever looked, and likely ever will look. I can't picture it getting any better than this. I found the audio to be better than I was expecting, it actually has some LFE here and there, and the sound of of the magnum is appropriatly loud. Dialog is a tad muffled here and there however, preventing a better rating. A little annoyance with the Dity Harry set, is that it's the size of a regular DVD set, thus does not fit well with other Blu Rays. Thankfully I currently dispay the BD box sets on a shelf, but if their ever integrated, it will be awkward. Otherwise it's a very cool set, have hardly been able to put the badge down.

PS - I love you - blu-ray
Cant really comment on it as I could only stomach it for about 10 minutes before shutting it off. Hillary Swank is about as romantically funny as Adolf Hitler. Honestly, I would rather be in a circle jerk with my Dad and my Grandfather than watch this movie. |

I am not thou.  The picture is just incredible throughout. Makes most other live performances look like garbage. The last bout with the Undertaker's entrance is harsh in high-definition. The blue neon lights make everything else stand out so when those lights went away & normal lighting was present, I literally had to take a short break before the match to rest my eyes because everything looked 3D. The audio isn't bombastic but has its moments mostly active during each wrestler's entrance. I used the BDP-S300 for this viewing cause the player bitstream's the audio so I don't have to crank up the receiver's db. |

All of the transfers are very consistent, and extremly well done for catalog titles. Audio all around is impressive for a bunch of 80's movies. Documentries area bit shallow, after the 1st one they don't really focus on the particular film their attached to, but extras aren't that important anyway.
