Toshiba paid for the mastering and authoring of the hd-dvd version of season one. Since I doubt any of the blu-ray companies will do the same, SD DVD is probably what we're going to be stuck with for a good while for for the rest of the series.

Thankfully most of the best episodes are in season one, so at least we got that one on HD. I just wish they hadn't compressed them so much.

I wouldnt have been interested in a HD release of this anyway as it would be the new redone versions with updated effects. blech.

I still need to pick up the original untouched versions on DVD

Hopefully by the time they get to next generation it will all be blu-ray. I really hope they put the same remastering effort into that one, though.

Derb! What the hell are you talking about? The first season in HD is incredible. Both in story and visuals.

BR just got on my shit list for not continuing what HD DVD started.

You don't know or appreciate Star Trek UNLESS you experience the original series.
