Nice! Now I know what I'm getting for my birthday. Would've been nice if WB included IME.

Ooops. I posted the link to this info in the other thread (still getting used to the idea that I now own a HD player)

Warner has opted to not hold back on the HDVD and include "...over 90 minutes of thrilling extras. Watch the entire film with Blue Screen Picture-in-Picture (PIP) functionality and special commentary by Zack Snyder. Also includes an exclusive HD strategy game Vengeance & Valor"
Info from some site called The Man Room.

Why does the HD-DVD have more features?

Probably because BD-J is still not ready. Is it ready? I don't remember. Wasn't that the issue with Blood Diamond?

With all the positive buzz for this when it was in theaters, I'll add it to my list to get. On HD-DVD.

Yes, this is likely the case. The disc is bd-50, so space wouldn't be the consideration. The IME or strat game would never be used by me, so I don't mind that. I am looking foward to the True HD soundtrack. I don't think I have heard one yet on bd, so I want to see how it compares with LPCM.

Actually it'll probably look like crap in HD, as it looked like crap in the theater. Still, I might buy it even though it's a rather silly film.

Ah. I see.

When I say "SO GOOD," I mean accurate. Because obviously I liked the look of the film. I agree that the pumped up contrast and grainy, gritty visuals are overused, but they were perfect for 300, IMO.

I'll just quote a mod over at review. Take it for what it is worth.

Quote:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment plans to phase out PCM lossless in favor of Dolby TrueHD in the future. For now, selected titles will carry both.
The title in question is Ghost Rider which will offer both LPCM & Dolby TrueHD from Warner.

I'd say once BD-J has 1.1 ready to go, studio's like Warner which have been holding out releases that are already out for HD DVD will release their titles with them extra's + Dolby TrueHD tracks if the HD DVD titles had them. Sony's move towards Dolby TrueHD is basically the nail in the coffin. I'm sure Disney will follow suit & 20th Century will keep the dts folks happy by continuing to support lossless dts-HDMA.

Another way to look at the change is because CE's are finally releasing audio receivers which can decode both lossless sound options. They can't sell LPCM as a "bonus" audio format because every receiver already can do it.

Ghost Rider is a Sony film and Stomp the Yard which was released today (also Sony) also got both LPCM and a Dolby TrueHD track. I really see no problem in it.
