Yeah, go figure. Will they let ya order one?

The second BB I went to yesterday gave me that option, but I turned it down. In order to order one, you have to pay for it in full right there. That wouldn't have worked because I need a receipt dated 7/1 or later to get the additional 5 free movies. So I'll probably go and do that in the next day or two.

Well, I stopped by another BB today on the way home from work, since it was on the way. They didn't have any either. They looked it up and none of the stores in the area has it, except the floor model and even the warehouse doesn't have any. So, like PH, it looks like I'm waiting awhile.

They told me to check back every wedsnesday morning. They should know then if and when they'll have some because the trucks come wed. night/thursday mornings. Even if they don't get any, if the warehouse has them, I can order one.

I’m thinking about putting Blu-ray on the backburner and getting the XA2 instead.

Note to Panasonic: If you’re going to release a player… actually release the player!

Hopefully the XA2 can use that Reon chip to make the recent Universal titles not look subpar.

I'd rather it play Blu-ray discs.

I foresee a PS3 in your future.

Well, I’ve made a decision that will undoubtedly send shockwaves through the HD world: f*ck Blu-ray!

That’s right! For the time being, I’m sticking with HD-DVD and using my BD player money for a new receiver. Now I just need to decide between the Pioneer and Onkyo. I’m leaning towards the Pioneer. I doubt the Onkyo is the same league as the Pioneer. Since a lot of the technology in the Onkyo is semi-new, I the think the Pioneer would be sturdier.

Coo

I'm diggin my Onkyo & it isn't even 1.3 compliant, nor has any decoders for any of the advanced HD soundtracks. The Audyssey EQ feature for it is awesome. It not only calibrated speaker distance & SPL, it also calibrated each channels frequencey ranging from 8000khz to 40khz. The LFE is great too. Only complaint is the price I had to pay. Its the 604 model & currently runs in the $750cdn or $500US range where I live.

Ain't familiar with Pioneer models.. not a common receiver to be found in my neck of the woods.

Good luck with HD DVD only.

Well . . . ahem.

Quick Observations:
1. Good lord Blu-ray looks good. The three minutes of Spider-Man 2 I watched damn near inspired tears.
2. PCM audio makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
3. Faster than the A1, but still slow.
4. HDMI-DVI works with my PJ!

It will probably take me a day or so to calibrate the video and audio, so expect a full review by this weekend at the latest.

Here’s to being dual-format.

Thats due to the mpeg-2 encode probably.

Now I skipped ahead here and didn't really read all the posts but why would you order a Blu ray player and it will take till July to get there???

They really don't want to talk to you but are required to. And when you get ready to ask a question they can see that look on your face and you holding your head up looking around. What I do is ambush those mofos. Look at at dvd while standing close to the aisle. They'll swarm you thinking you're shoplifting. Then unload on them with your questions.

Very interesting! I can't wait for a full review. Refresh my memory PCM audio being passed via __________?

Analog.

Because, out of all the current players, the Sharp offered most of what I needed with my current setup. And it was a cheaper "in the meantime" solution.

Ya like the PCM lossless sound eh? Get used to it, cause most titles on BD sound just as good as Spidy 2

My review will be up soon. It should have enough info for you to decide whether or not the player is right for him.
