Black Snake Moan: HD-DVD/Blu-ray

We need a thread for this. Why? Because I need opinions.

I almost never blind buy... but I really want to see this (and Netflix has a long wait). I have a lot of respect for Brewer and I want to see what he's done here.

I know it's silly, but the thing keeping me from a blind purchase is Justin Timberlake. I would really prefer he stay out of films. Does he take up a lot of screen time?

I would love to see this in HD (HD DVD or Blu-Ray) so I can see the details of her skin.....

Peace...

I'll just never understand why attractive ladies want to draw on themselves. I’d be more than happy to come over and draw all over them… with a sharpie.

Picked up the SD version at the rental store today, and plan to watch it tonight.

I picked it and Hustle & Flow up on BD. It isn't as good as Hustle, but it's still a really good movie. Looks great, sounds great, and everyone in it handles their part well, even Justin Timberfuck.

Watched it last night, and it was enjoyable. My only criticism is that the story was predictable, but I was pretty much expecting that. I don't think it was so good that I'll buy it later, but definitely worth the rental.

Timberlake's role isn't that big, but he does get around 12-15 minutes of screentime in the movie.

Well i got an early BDay gift today but sadly it was a movie i already had. So i went to Best Buy and told them i already had it and wanted to see if i could trade it for something else. Sure enough they said it wasn't a problem and payed the $7 difference and blind bought the movie for HD(came close to getting Letters from Iwo Jima instead) Hopefully i will have a chance to watch it soon as i have about 12 movies i need to watch for the first time now in High-Def/ever and 2 more to add to the list soon.

Timberlake is barely in it, and he's not too bad. The film itself wasn't outstanding, but it was good enough that I decided to pick it up.

Hate to dig up older threads but I watched the SD version yesterday. I really enjoyed it. The wife who missed the first 30 minutes due to a nap but she finished watching it enjoyed it a lot. I swear I believe she thought I rented a snuff film or something. I told the ad campaign for it sucked.

I just dug up the SD thread on this title so you're not alone.

Peace...

Was thinking of blind buying this myself as it got a lot of good press.

As for HD DVD vs. Blu-Ray, they both use AVC and reviews have indicated the video is identical. However, HDD gave the HD DVD version the nod since it has an apparently better sounding 1.5mbps DD+ track as opposed to the BD's 640kbps DD track.
