Why isn't Walmart selling Blueray and Hddvd yet?

I've been to two Walmarts in my area and neither carry this format yet so I assume that no Walmart is carrying them yet.I've seen them at Target but not Walmart.Has anyone seen blue ray and hddvd at your local Walmart?

I think that the typical Wal-Mart shopper (the foolscreen or bust kind) cant afford or dont care about HD DVD or Blu Ray. I have witnessed someone buying a 42 inch widescreen TV, and had a cartfull of fullscreen DVDs. I almost said something, but i thought "Nah, he will figure it out eventually".

The Wal-Mart in my area (Brunswick, Maine) is carrying both HD-DVD and BD titles. Very limited selection, but they're there.

I have two Wal Marts near me... One sells about 5-10 Blu Ray discs only and they're in the Playstation section... The other has a whole rack devoted to HD discs, carrying about 2/3rds BD and 1/3rd HD DVD, about 30 discs total.

Wal Mart bases its inventory on the area, some still carry VHS as I learned recently on a vacation. So you're probably in an area where demographics result in no HD for you.

Well my local Wal Mart just started carrying Blu Ray and HD DVD. The first title to appear was 300 and then next came TMNT. I saw a few more there this morning. Still no stand alone players though.

Well up here in the great white North, the 2 WM near me have been selling both formats for quite a while.

I am in a town of less than 30000 people and my WalMart has had HD and Blu almost since the beginning. It is the only place within an hour of here that you can buy high def discs. At first they were very sluggish getting in new titles, but now they almost always have the latest release out on Tuesday or Wednesday.

see this thread: http://forums.dvdfile.com/showthread...hlight=walmart
and this one: http://forums.dvdfile.com/showthread...hlight=walmart

HD is outselling Blu by over 10 to 1 here, which is good and bad. Good because they can see that HD sells better here and bad because If I do not get there when they put out a new disc, some other HD fanatic will snatch it up.

Guess what ONLY High-Def player they are selling? LOL

In the beginning I was able to easily pick up New Releases but after a year it's been rough and don't even bother.

In my area there's about 3-4 only 1, SuperStore too that carries 50+ High-Def but the problem is they are very unorganized, you can't even browse through it. I'm not surprised they don't have ANY other HD players.

I did COMPLAIN and ask if they can spare 1 Aisle/Section were the DVD's are.

And when they become a regular there, Wally World employees can misinterpret the customers.

I've heard the dumbest shit when it comes to people buying HDTVs at Wal-Mart.

Strangeness:

The nearest location near me just started carrying BDs, all 5 or 6 are $24.99, mostly family stuff. The only HD DVD they have is We are Marshall, $29.99.

The second nearest location near me just started carrying both BD and HD, with prices from $18.96-$29.99, many more too. An entire "block" of their encased DVD shelving is being devoted to them. 300, Blades of Glory, Knocked Up, A Few Good Men, Hot Fuzz, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Disturbia, The Patriot,, etc. They even had A Room with a View on both formats, for $18.96.

Walmart lets the store video department managers have some control over what they stock. Thus the amount of discs of either format depends on what the manager thinks will sell well in their area. Haven't bought a disc of either format there in ages now, but they still have the cheapest prices of any B&M store I've seen, not counting Fry's sales.
