HD-DVD & Blu Ray Special Editions
This is just a general next generation dvd question. When a "Special Edition" 3 disc version of a film is released on SD do they release that same package in HD/Blu Ray? I don't pay attention to the next gen stuff in the store as I can't yet afford a player (but I am leaning toward the Xbox add-on) so I just wanted to know if the extra discs and features have made their way to the next gen?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
At least on HD DVD, what seems to happen most often is that you get some of the material from SD, then on top of that you get some additional HD bonus features such as In-Movie Experience or U-Control. So it might not be exactly the same extras package, but there is generally at least a good amount to sink your teeth into on HD DVD. Take a look at the 300 HD DVD for instance - some of the most impressive extras available to date including a Picture-in-a-Picture window that shows what the actors look like with bluescreen prior to computer special effects for the whole movie (you can toggle it on and off at will).
