Fantastic HDMI 1.3 Article
This Article from www.Highdefdigest.com really drives home the point that HDMI 1.3 really is an unnecessary advancement for HD-DVD and Blu-ray.
This makes me happy as my receiver is as capable as I will ever need it and that I will just be looking forward to an eventual player that can output the DTS-HDMA to be able to listen to all of these discs as they should be. It also begs the question, if we have the space, is there any reason for studios to pay Dolby and DTS royalties when PCM sounds so good?

Yes, great link! It's one reason I feel secure when I bought my Sony STR-DG1000 receiver. I didn't think I needed 1.3 HDMI just yet to enjoy PCM tracks on blu-ray. PCM wasn't going to be affected by the upgrade in hdmi specs. The fact that most features for 1.3 are not even capable at this point, leads me to believe that my receiver should be good for at least five more years, which makes it great as an "investment" in high def sound.
One question I had that wasn't answered by the article is: "Is bitstream transmission of audio codecs superior to PCM transmission?" I guess that would be the only thing I have been confused on so far.
