One of the reasons I initially got into HD DVD was the promise of a new Pride & Prejudice disc. Well, it took a while to be released, but it was so worth the wait.
Universal has done a spectacular job with this disc. It doesn’t quite reach perfection, but it’s damn close. It was like watching the film for the first time again, and the TrueHD track does the exquisite score justice. In fact, the film looked and sounded even better than when I saw it in the cinema (it was a run-down arthouse cinema, but still). This is why I love these HD formats. ![]()

I think PH was born in the wrong century. He would have totally fit in that time period.

Just looking at the cover I imagine this movie has some gorgeous landscapes. Maybe I will pick it up if I can find a B&M store that is not gouging on price near me

It's England, so no, not really. But it's still a pretty good film. I know lots of people like the BBC miniseries version a lot better because it's very faithful to the book. But honestly I've always found Jane Austin to be a bit long-winded, so the shorter film works better for me.
