Cover art at the bits.

I drop by the Bits eveyonce in a while. More often then not Mr Hunt is posting cover art for new DVD releases.

The question is why? Is only for the obvious. So that people can see what the new release looks like, or is there a deeper reason.

Do people use the images for something else?

I don’t understand your question. I assume The Bits posts the cover art for the same reason we have a cover art thread: to see cover art.

The bits posts cover art because that's how they pass the subliminal messages and marching orders to the other members of the blu-ray project hydra. Derb checks there ever morning before he posts here.

To make purchasing decisions based solely on whether the cover art passes or fails the Big Giant Head test.

You bet! One side or the other better throw me a party soon or I'm going to start advocating everyone go back to VHS. Viva la tape!

I used to frequent the cover-art section there before HD ever entered the fray.

There are too many DVD releases each week (100+/per tuesday) for them to cover them all & I did notice some bias there now that HD has arrived & MR. Hunt prefers BD. IE. If the same title is released on both formats, he'll post the pic of the BD version & not the HD DVD version.

There isn't anything out of the ordinary regarding that section of the bits. Its nice to know what each coverart does look like before you walk into the store to make a purchase. I simply see that section as a shoppin' time saver. Also, I see many DVD double-dips which is frankly the reason I stopped looking at that section. All marketing with no substance.

Oh, but if you really wonder why that section is there is because TheDigtialBits makes a small profit from their direct links to Amazon.
