Yep, even Bill Hunt's site said in its review Deja Vu was the "best the BD format had to offer thus far" in video quality.

I never said vc-1 was bad, just that it had the same look on all the releases I have seen it on. I think the thing about the video deblocking filter that Videoworx brought up makes alot of sense.

I tend to like the avc look a bit better because I like different films to look as different as possible from one another, but there is certainly NOTHING wrong in my opinion with vc-1, it certainly serves up a nice presentation. Only thing that bugs/worries me is about vc-1 always moving towards more compression.

I don't get how you guys can "see" a codec. I've seen VC-1, AVC, and MPEG-2 all deliver spectacular to absolutely shit results. The source has much more of a bearing on the end quality, especially between VC-1 and AVC. If the source is shitty, no codec in the world can really correct that, unless it knows voodoo.
