Well I'll be, Blu Ray for rent at Blockbuster found!

Of all the places, a fairly backwater Blockbuster here in Albuquerque had some Blu Ray movies for rent! I rented Hostel 2, and Reign Over Me. Might not be news to most, but it suprised the hell outta me.

Yeah, my BB has quite a few BD discs and giant banners all over the store.

The one closest to my house has them. All the rest that I've been to don't.

Heh, this place has like 5 BD movies, and they were placed with their DVD counterparts, barely visible.

Currently we have one BlockBuster that rents out both formas in my city. Yet according to the AVS Forum BlockBuster Canada will be going nationwide with both firmats in Nov or Dec of this year. Roger's Video will also be starting very soon as well.

Which is great as i hope to see some used HighD ef discs from them in the near future.

We got 1 BB store which carries both HD formats for rent + a shitty selection of titles for sale. ($44.99 average price)

Unfortunately they do not accept trade-in's on HD titles.

My Hollywood Video has more BR movies than any BB. I'd say at least 40. And maybe 30 HD-DVDs.

Good shit.

I finally got a Blockbuster card the other day. The Camrose Blockbuster is supposedly getting HDs in November.

I guess my love for HD DVD is greater than my hate for Blockbuster

I was just in a BlockBuster tonight and they guy knew his stuff. As of this Tuesday they will start renting out Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray in all stores across Canada. The following week the big rollout of both HD-DVD and Blu-ray will begin. He doesn't think they will have a lot of them and will more then likely be renting out the newer of the releases then anything. Still its a start and Roger's Video has a very small but now avaiable rental section as well.

I have only checked the closest BB to me and I have seen no HD discs. I get my HD-DVD rentals from Netflix.

Since I work for the underpaying bastards I should inform you that here in the UK Blockbuster is new considering stocking and selling HD DVD titles. So far they have been BD exclusive but since sales of PS3s were underwhelming (with many of them being traded back in after a month) they are no re-evaluating their stance on HD media.

No lie.

The thing about BlockBuster many don't realize is that its a VIACOM company. Now the other thing is VIACOM owns Paramount Pictures which is now HD-DVD exclusive. So the last thing they want to do is keep its own exclusive poduct out of its own store. So expect a big HD-DVD showing in most BlockBuster stores soon. . . .i would think

Blockbuster hasn't been a part of Viacom since 2004.

Oh. I thought they still own them. I guess Viacom sold off A LOT of stuff then as Famous Players (the theater company i worked. . .well kind of work for still. Same name different owners now) was a Viacom company too until we were sold about the same time

Yeah, I think that was about the time they dumped them on Cineplex as well. Right before Viacom did the big spilt into two companies, CBS Corporation and the new Viacom, they pretty much dumped anything that wasn't making money.
