Electronic House Top 10 Reasons . . .

So, E. House has these two articles:

The Top 10 Reasons to Buy Blu-Ray

and

The Top 10 Reasons to Buy HD-DVD

What do you think?
(PS You'll have to scroll down a bit for the HD article. Their code is screwed up.)

Looks reasonable to me.

Consumers reading this will interpret these as the Top 20 reasons to wait for a Dual-Format player.

Look at reason #10 on the blu-ray list, they pretty much just tell you to buy blu-ray.

They just should've made a top 10 reasons to buy a dual format player list.

interesting list, but its so clear that it picks bluray as the winner

a few of HDDVD's facts are just repeats of the ones on bluray's list, and blurays last point basically just tells the truth that blu rays is the better option and the clear winner

Not really. But I guess you can read whatever you want into each list.

At worst, you could say the BD version leaves out some key specifics. Like, yeah it supports nextgen codecs, but no BD profile 1.1 players under $500 actually can decode them.

Also, Universal and Paramount are two massive content providers to be missing. You cannot pretend to claim that BD still has a total lock on content anymore.

It did seem like they are favoring Blu-ray a bit.

They should make a list for me. Top 10 reasons why you should wait till next year.

I think they were really reaching on both sides to come up with 10 reasons. Like mentioning storage capacity twice or using virtually the same statement on both for video and sound.

Probably could have been a top 5 list with the same information.

I'll give ya some advise.

Wait till early next year when Time Warner picks its exclusive format.

Go with who ever they choose.

Why would you say this? Do you have any facts or are you just spreading rumors?

I didn't read any particular slant towards BD. What I did notice is the "lower price" aspect when they discussed HD DVD. I'd imagine that JSP's reading those two articles (if JSP's do read articles like that) would come away with HD DVD being the less expensive of the two.

And you know that Warner followed that story up by saying it was "misconstrued" and "misquoted":

We support both formats and we have made no decision to alter that policy, nor are there any such announcements coming, or being planned."

As for speculation that the studio is waiting for Q4 sales results before making an announcement of format exclusivity -- perhaps even as soon as this January's CES in Las Vegas -- Noonan shot down any such short-term scenarios.

"Like any major company, we are always reviewing our strategies in every aspect of our business, it is what smart companies do. I can't say what may happen five, ten years down the line. But right now, Warner Bros. has made no decision to change course.
We are still onboard with both formats, and will continue [with a strong line-up of new releases and catalog titles], just as we have in the past in supporting HD DVD and Blu-ray.
The rest is rumors started by BD fans and the BDA itself (BD-exclusive studio LionsGate, to be specific - who appears to be working closely with Sony these days). Its a coordinated FUD effort to attempt to prevent people from snapping up the $199 HD DVD players they have been.

Stop spreading BS.

Right, your quote is old, my newer quote is responding to your old quote:

Your quote is from 10/30/07 and was shot down by Warner shortly afterwards. Click and read your old quote:
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/1123

The quote I linked is from 11/5/07, where Warner shoots down your quote that you pasted above in your reply:
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...construed/1135

The FUD stops here.

There is no new credible "news" of Warner re-evaluating their stance. The only "news" is that the BDA FUD Machine is back in high gear and now we have BD-exclusive studio LionsGate in Business Week trying to rekindle the 10/30 rumor which was already shot down by Warner. Warner last said they are not changing their stance - until they say otherwise, all the other rumors are just that - a rumor; and when it comes from a BDA-exclusive studio, you know you can't take it for face value.

Is it possible Warner may go exclusive? Of course. Will it happen next year? Who knows. Will it be HD DVD or BD? Again, who knows. I'm sure if you ask the HD DVD camp they'd say HD DVD and if you ask the BD camp they'd say BD. There is nothing concrete, however.

We'll see, I am not pointing at a specific format they may choose so why so upset?

Did you just mean Warner, not Time Warner?

Warner is making money in both formats, I don't see why they would switch.

Well Paramount got paid something like $150 million for their support.

I don't see why Warner would not take a similar offer from one side or the other.
