Paprika and Tekkon Kinkreet are pretty cheap, so it's not all HD anime that's expensive.
It's just Bandai doing this, as they did with VHS and DVD before. Ah, I can remember when $30 for 2 episodes of GunBuster on VHS was a bargain.
