Why is anime so freaking..

EXPENSIVE????????

Paprika and Tekkon Kinkreet are pretty cheap, so it's not all HD anime that's expensive.

It's just Bandai doing this, as they did with VHS and DVD before.

Ah, I can remember when $30 for 2 episodes of GunBuster on VHS was a bargain.

Because it's a limited market compared to mainstream films.

Because they only have to sell 10 compies to make back what they actually spend on production AND distribution.

Through various Amazon discounts I was able to get a similarly priced Royal Space Force HD DVD from the same company for $47 shipped.

I've seen plenty of expensive anime flicks on SD DVD.
