Batman Begins & Matrix Trilogy coming to Blu-Ray in '08

Well I'll be damned

Warner: Profile 1.1 Blu-Ray Titles Coming Soon:

Two titles specifically cited by Tsujishara as being prepped for Blu-ray release were 'Batman Begins,' and the blockbuster 'Matrix' trilogy, although he stopped short of naming actual street dates.

So will I be able to find HD-DVD Matrix trilogies for real cheap now?

I think that was always their story and why they hadn't been released yet.

I'm wondering if they'll just replicate what's on the current HD DVDs or if they have any added functions or interactivity?

Probably, but not mine. I will keep both my Batman Begins and Matrix on hd-dvd until my hd-a2 breaks, in which case I'll probably be able to get them on blu-ray for cheaper.

Oh for anyone who wanted Batman Begins on Blu-ray. Well don't expect it on the format until beginning of July to coincide with The Dark Knight release. This according CaptVeg (a guy on the IGN Boards) who helps out with WB High Def discs authoriizing.

I kinda figured that. Put in a movie ticket for Dark Knight and I'm all over it.

batman begins would be a must, one of my favourite movies

i'd already ssumed we'd see something to coincide with the dark knight coming out in july, i'd always thought it would be a special edition with a free ticket or something, but to have begins on blu ray would be such a welcomed surprise

Matrix would also be a good buy

the idea of getting the 4 original Batman films on BD never even occured to me, that would be wicked awesome, maybe WB would even finally give us the batman forever directors cut too

Don't the non-Burton Batman movies blow? (aside from Begins)

Batman Forever is watchable in places(if you try and ignore Jim Carrey, the movie improves by 15%), but yeah it sucks compared to the 1st two... Batman and Robin is just an abomination.

Honestly I don't think any of the four original films are good Batman films... it took until Batman Begins to get that.

Batman and Batman Returns are good Tim Burton gothic romps though, Batman and Robin is a silly modern remake of the 60's TV show kind of Batman, which I can get some enjoyment out of for the hell of it. Batman Forever is some weird combination of the two.

I'm hoping they'll allow the Matrix to be bought individually. I love the first film, but the 2nd and 3rd don't have a place in my collection as I'd never watch them.

I agree. Even though my favorite is Batman Returns, mainly because I love Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/The Dark Knight I was very happy that Batman Begins happened. It gave the series a new life.

Another series I would LOVE to see Nolan (or Other Director/Producer) take-on is SPIDER-MAN. I hate what they did with it Cast, Writing, Director.

Exellent, I think I will upgrade at least Begins and possibly Matrix from my current SD versions. I do wish they would make the original Matrix available seperately though -- but I get why they won't, because almost nobody would buy the sequels if they did. Don't really care about the earlier Batman films since I hated the original Burton one (odd, since I usually love him as a director) and didn't bother to see the others. However, I expect them to come out this year too and it will be cool for the people who want them.

Yeah, the Matrix will pretty much be guaranteed to be sold as a set. Warner never broke down the Matrix set for hd-dvd, so I don't see it happening on blu-ray.

Sounds like the same thing Sony did with Spiderman 1 & 2, they're only available on BD in the set w/ Spiderman 3, wished they'd release them individually since I own Spidey 3 on BD and 1 & 2 on SD

Actually it'll probably be more along the lines of the MI set. A box set at first, then maybe a year later individual discs. So if you just hang on a bit, I'm sure you'll be able to buy them individually.
